Taipei, June 10 (CNA) Members of Taiwan's Cloud Dance Theatre left Sunday on a performance tour that will take them to Israel and Austria, with first lady Chow Mei-ching accompanying them as honorary team leader.
The world-renowned modern dance group will stop first in Tel Aviv for four performances from June 13-16 of "Water Stains on the Wall," a production that seeks to represent the spirit of Chinese ink paintings.
The group will then travel to Austria for a summer arts festival in Innsbruck, where they will join with Rustavi Choir of Georgia to perform "Songs of the Wanderers" June 23-24.
It is the second time that the dance company is sharing a stage with the choir since the two performed together in the German city of Dresden last June.
The upcoming tour has attracted intense attention in the Israeli and Austrian media. Israel's Channel 10 sent a team to cover the troupe while it was barnstorming in Wolfsburg, Germany in May.
The Austrian Broadcasting Corporation, Austria's national radio and television network, sent a team to Taiwan in April to produce a show on Cloud Gate.
