Los Angeles, May 7 (CNA) The Taiwanese epic "Warriors of the Rainbow: Seediq Bale" will go into wider release in the United States May 11 after a good box office on its opening weekend in the country, the distributor said Monday.
The film, which opened in the U.S. cities including New York, San Francisco and Houston, will be screened in eight other cities including San Diego, Boston and San Jose, said Well Go USA.
"Seediq Bale" has taken in nearly US$60,000 in the three days since it opened at 12 American movie theaters on April 27.
The distributor said "Seediq Bale" director Wei Te-sheng, producer Jimmy Huang and lead actor Lin Ching-tai had visited the U.S. for a promotional tour.
The company said if the box office continues to grow steadily, it will arrange for other cast members to meet American fans.
Wei, who is currently in China to promote the movie there, said he hopes his work will continue to receive support and he urged movie-goers not to miss out on the film.
According to Box Office Mojo, an Amazon-owned website that tracks box office revenue, the movie had collected US$99,614 in the U.S. as of May 6.
"Seediq Bale" will be aired in Chinese theaters May 10.
