Seoul, May 16 (CNA) Hong Kong-born action film star Jackie Chan is planning to launch a new boy group in South Korea, according to a report published by Seoul-based newspaper Ilgan Sports Wednesday.
Seeing Korean pop culture sweep across the world, Chan has decided to invest in a new idol group there, hoping it can extend its reach to the international market, the report said, citing unnamed sources.
The five-member group "JJCC," which was named based on Chan's initials, is composed of four Koreans and one ethnic Chinese. It will launch its first album this September, with Chan the chief producer in charge of the album, the report said.
Chan has been involved in every step of the group's development since last year, from recruiting its members to following their progress as they undergo singing and dancing training and learn to speak English and Chinese, according to the report.
