Taipei, April 23 (CNA) Sports Minister Tai Hsia-ling said Monday that she hopes Taiwan will grab more medals at the London Olympic Games this year than the four it earned at the Beijing Olympics in 2008.
So far, 27 Taiwanese athletes have been qualified to compete in 10 sports at the London Olympics, Tai said at a legislative hearing.
As qualifying events are still taking place in certain sports, the final size of Taiwan's team will not be known until about a month before the start of the London Games on July 27, she said.
The final entries in badminton and tennis, for example, will be decided by athletes rankings in the two sports as of May 3 and June 11, respectively, she said.
Taiwan grabbed four bronze medals in the 2008 Beijing Olympics, two in taekwondo and two in weightlifting.
