Taipei, April 13 (CNA) The official No. 16 t-shirt for Taiwanese pitcher Chen Wei-yin went on sale in Taipei Friday, two days after the left-hander made his Major League Baseball (MLB) debut for the Baltimore Orioles.

The first batch of 300 T-shirts come in black, white and gray, with a price tag of NT$800, according to Pegasus International Holdings, the Taiwan agent for official MLB apparel.

Liang Chao-huang, the company's merchandise director, said the t-shirt will also be available at affiliated retailers around Taiwan from the following day.

He predicted that 20,000 of the shirts will be sold before an MLB All-Star Game in July, and said the company will import more Chen jerseys and memorabilia.

She said her family had previously even flown to Japan to buy a Chen Chunichi Dragons jersey.

Another customer said he has been a Chen fan since he played in Japan and expressed confidence that he will perform better and better in light of his solid MLB debut.
