Moderate quake hits Hualien

Taipei, June 15 (CNA) An earthquake measuring 5.6 on theopen-ended Richter scale hit Hualien in eastern Taiwan Tuesday withno immediate damage reported, the Central Weather Bureau said.

The earthquake, which occured at 8: 31 a.m., was centered 3.7kilometers southeast of the Sioulin seismic station at a depth of18.9 kilometers, seismologists said.
