2019/07/17 17:58

Taipei, July 17 (CNA) EVA Airways, one of Taiwan's two leading international carriers, will offer a regular service between Taipei and the Italian city of Milan starting Feb. 18, 2020, the airline announced Wednesday.

EVA Air will operate four flights per week on the route between Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport and Milan, starting Feb. 18, using the Boeing 777-300ER. Tickets are already on sale, according to the airline.

Outbound flights will depart from Taoyuan airport at 11 p.m. and arrive at 6:30 a.m. the next day at Milan Malpensa Airport for a scheduled flight time of 13 hours 50 minutes, while inbound flights will take off at 11 a.m. and arrive in Taiwan at 6:30 a.m. the next day for 12 hours 30 minutes, said Eva Air.

Under an amended bilateral aviation pact in 2009, Taiwan and Italy agreed to offer air services to Milan, in addition to Rome, and allow two airlines in each country to operate seven flights per week, respectively.

EVA Air's main competitor China Airlines is currently the only Taiwanese carrier that offers flights to Italy. It is allowed to operate five flights a week to the European country but currently provides only three between Taoyuan airport and Rome and has no plans to offer services to Milan.
