Matsu Thorn Birds bookstore café embraces destiny

The road to Thorn Birds Coffee (刺鳥咖啡) takes visitors through the alleyways of a hillside village on the remote coastline of Nangan Island (南竿), part of the Matsu archipelago. As the road winds its way down toward the beach, it can feel a little too exposed when the seasonal north winds blow.
