Chunghwa Telecom signs MOU with Swaziland company on technology aid
2010/07/29 16:18:03
Taipei, July 29 (CNA) Chunghwa Telecom Co., Ltd, the largest telecom operator in Taiwan, said Thursday it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Swaziland Posts and Telecommunications Corp. (SPTC) to facilitate future cooperation and improve the quality of service provided by the African company.

Chunghwa Telecom Chairman Lu Shyue-ching and SPTC Chairman Amon Dlamini signed the MOU in Taipei Thursday on behalf of their respective companies.

The MOU is aimed at broadening the scope of cooperation to provide technology assistance to and share Internet development experiences with Swaziland, which is one of Taiwan's diplomatic allies, said Chunghwa Telecom.

Further discussions will be held to plan the details of future cooperation projects based on the MOU, Chungwha Telecom said.

SPTC is a state-owned company that provides a wide range of telecom services, from fixed line to ISDN, voice mail and Internet services.

The company is also responsible for bandwidth supervision and for issuing relevant licenses in Swaziland.

Since 2007, Chunghwa Telecom and SPTC have been engaged in cooperation in xDSL -- various types of digital telecommunications lines -- the planning of next generation networks, and billing systems upgrade.

The two companies have also conducted several programs for exchange visits by their respective representatives to foster better understanding.
